EY Tech Consultant — where the HR round is the real eliminator

Round-by-round

1. Online assessment

Numerical and logical reasoning, plus a coding question in the easy-to-medium range.

2. Verbal communication round

More of a language assessment — a mix of listening-based tasks and a speaking component.

3. Technical interview

Heavily focused on real-world application rather than definitions:

• OOP principles in practical terms
• DSA — specifically HashMaps
• DBMS — normalisation and SQL
• A detailed discussion of a Java project I'd built, where I had to justify my design choices in depth

4. HR round

This turned out to be an eliminator round, not a formality. It covered how genuine my interest in the technical side of the role was, the difference between a developer and a consultant, and a puzzle-based question meant to test problem-solving under pressure.
