Round-by-round

Round 1 — Core Java

Fundamentals in good depth:

• Method overloading vs overriding
• How private and static methods behave with visibility and inheritance, and access modifiers
• How the JVM works, Java's platform independence, and the String Pool mechanism
• Exception handling — checked vs unchecked, writing a custom exception, throw vs throws
• Java 8+ features — functional interfaces, default methods in interfaces, and Stream API operations like map vs flatMap

Round 2 — Spring Boot & Hibernate

Shifted to the framework side: @Controller vs @RestController, CORS and why it matters in API design, and @PathVariable vs @RequestParam. On the Hibernate side — ORM concepts, eager vs lazy fetching, and get() vs load(). It closed with a brief, high-level discussion on microservices architecture and a few HR questions at the end.
